Zedd is not a familiar name in Malaysia. Germany has been paying some props to Zedd over the years for his amazing remixes for Armand van Helden, Wolfgang Gartner and Fatboy Slim, and he was also appeared in Skrillex EP, which was almost a full album, for his remix of Skrillex's 'Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites'. Early this month, Zedd has just came up with a new track entitled 'Slam the Door'. The track reached the #1 spot this week. If you enjoy big room electro sound, you have to check this tune.

Hardwell is an award-winning DJ, producer, label manager, music lover, DJMag Top 100 list newcomer and he is barely 23 years old. For the last couple of years, Hardwell has been recognised by the industry as having a new and refreshing take on a scene that continues to evolve and seems to have an everlasting shelf life. His identity and musical development can be summed up in a single phrase, “Big Room House”. He has created his unique trademark as a DJ and producer around this sound.

Hardwell’s international breakthrough came with his Show Me Love vs. Be bootleg of Steve Angello and Laidback Luke’s track and Robin S’ classic. That bootleg became one of the biggest and most played dance hits of 2009. The Djakarta Warehouse Project is back for the third time last year with its biggest line-up so far including the legendary Roger Sanchez and Jazzy Jeff among other international acts in the bill over 3 arenas. Among all big parties happening in this region, I've decided to skip ZoukOut and flown to Jakarta for this massive party!

Djakarta Warehouse Project is organised by Ismaya Group, the people behind some of the best concerts in Jakarta including Suede, Two Door Cinema Club, Cut Copy, Digitalism and many more, and owner of outlets such as Dragonfly and Blowfish. So this is the best time for me to experience the "IsmayaLive" since it is a music festival. Plus, I haven't been to Jakarta for the past 3 years now and I really, really miss the city.

I have not been to many international festival besides ZoukOut and Avalon in Singapore but overall, I can say that Djakarta Warehouse Project is one of the best parties I've been to. It's a whole different experience, I must say. I'm not sure how many people were there but Roger Sanchez played in front of a packed crowd. Without a doubt, his set was fucking ace.

Besides Roger Sanchez, I think Moonlight Matters did a pretty good set at the Black Area by Clear. He pulled everyone on the dancefloor with his indie disco vibe. Same goes with the legendary Jazzy Jeff. Fans of old skool hip hop went bananas when he dropped his cutting-edge DJ set. Don't be surprised. I saw a tudung girl when Jazzy Jeff was on stage.

If I have the money, I don't mind flying there again for the next Djakarta Warehouse Project. It is a good music festival which I would recommend to everyone besides ZoukOut in South East Asia.

BLOG THING: Party, Party and More Parties This December...

Choices.. Choices... Party goers would usually pick ZoukOut as their party of choice every December. But this year, ZoukOut is going head-to-head with big parties within South East Asia. Malaysia is having its annual Thirst party with Tiesto, Same goes with Indonesia's annual dance party Djakarta Warehouse Project on the night before and Edition Bangkok returns this year with ZoukOut's headliners Armin van Buuren and Avicii. What's your pick?

ZoukOut has been around for 11 years now. Last year was my first ZoukOut and I have to tell you that it was freaking awesome. Although last year was less 'trance' but the vibe was too good and every bit is still fresh in my mind. Frankly, I was there for Tiesto because Malaysia was not included in his Asia tour for 2010. Some friends of mine did went for his show in Jakarta and Bangkok though. And seeing David Guetta at ZoukOut last year was another good reason to go. This year, the price has increased S$20 extra from last year (S$68). But who could resist not to see Armin van Buuren, right? Well, I don't.... More info on ZoukOut at www.zoukout.com

First contender, Jakarta's very own dance festival Djakarta Warehouse Project caught my attention. With about 10 international lineups which is quite similar to ZoukOut (minus Armin and Avicii), I thought with only IDR275,000 (RM95) it is worth to go.Why? Because we (Malaysians) don't get to see Bob Sinclar, Roger Sanchez, Ladytron and Jazzy Jeff in our shores. Probably because most Malaysians don't appreciate house music as much as most Indonesians. Check JUICE article entitled "House Music of Horrors" if you want to know more... Djakarta Warehouse Project is happening on the 9th December (Friday), which is a day before ZoukOut + Thirst. Second contender, KL's annual event Heineken's Thirst. This one is clashing with ZoukOut. From what I've heard, 10,000 tickets are sold so far for Heineken Thirst. You know why? Because Malaysians love Tiesto! Although there are still people who sticking to their plans for ZoukOut, Tiesto will be getting a 10,000-strong crowd this Saturday. Even I don't wanna miss this chance to catch Tiesto spinning again in Malaysia! Heineken Thirst is going down on the 10th December (Saturday) and it's clashing with ZoukOut on the same night. If you want to party till 8am, ZoukOut is recommended but if you want to experience the sound of Tiesto's Clublife, Heineken Thirst is the perfect choice. Lastly, Edition Bangkok returns this year with two ZoukOut's headliner Armin van Buuren and Avicii. The last event was two years ago where Tiesto, Ferry Corsten and Markus Schulz sharing the stage in Bangkok. BLOG: Mengejar Laskar Pelangi

The Story Begins...

Laskar Pelangi has been one of my favourite Indonesian movies. The movie portrays the importance of education and the beauty of friendship in a very rural setting in Belitung, Indonesia. Last week, my good buddies and me went to Singapore just to catch the musical version of the film. All I can say is it was worth every dollar we paid.

When I first saw the play in Indo's event listings last year, I wanted to go but I couldn't afford to go to Jakarta. I felt glad that the play is staged in Esplanade, Singapore. At least I could go for a daytrip.

Laskar Pelangi Musical is directed by Riri Riza. Hats off to the man for pulling a wonderful production like this. It is no surprise when people called the play as the revival of Indonesia theater industry. On the music side, Erwin Gutawa composed beautiful melody for 18 scenes over the three-hour show. Brilliant man, I must say.

I have two personal favourite scenes from the show; when Ikal first met Aling and the part where Lintang's father didn't come home. It was so beautiful that it touches everyone's heart. Eventhough Ikal's character seems too young to understand love, he pulled it well presenting how love at first sight feels like. On the other hand, Lintang did show a good emotion through the song 'Menanti Ayah, Menanti Lintang' which he sang with Ikal. It is also my favourite song of the whole show.

I can't really tell the flaw of the show because I don't know much about theaters. But what I realised, the show didn't have a lot of dialogue. However, it is still good. We are hoping to see the production in Kuala Lumpur in the future. Riri Reza, if you read this, we - Malaysians - want to see your show at Istana Budaya!

American Muslims are actually exist? Yes they do, fellow readers. And today I've bumped into a website that caught my attention called My Fellow American, a project of Unity Productions Foundation (UPF) in America. Eventhough I am from Malaysia but here's something interesting that I would like to share in my blog.

For your information, My Fellow American is actually an online film and also a social media project by the UPF to call the people of America to pledge and spread a message that Muslims are their fellow Americans too. The project seeks people from different backgrounds to pledge and share their real life story about their Muslim friends, neighbour or colleague that they admire.

According to the website, most Americans have never actually met an American Muslim. In fact, many of them stereotyped them as how they are portrayed in the media. Most common - terrorist. American Muslims are so often vilified as “the other” that it is possible not to recognize that most were born in the U.S. Or that those who immigrated here came seeking the same freedoms and opportunities that have always attracted people to America.

Thousands were there to witness the awesome duo, LMFAO and their Party Rock crew gracing the stage of Euphoria - MOS in Sunway, and they did an hour of highly energetic performance that did not let the party people down! LMFAO was in KL, B*TCH!

The holiday eve couldn't get any better than this. I was informed that the duo fans began to swarm the courtyard of the venue as early as 7pm and a friend of mine even waited to get his entry since 7.30pm. The management did serve some finger food at the Deq area for the early birds in case they got hungry.

LMFAO went on stage with their Party Rock crew around 1AM after a very long wait. Good job to the resident DJs for serving good electro choons but the crowd don't seem wanted to party as they were there for only the main headline. But as soon as LMFAO got on stage, you know there won't be any mercy under the glitter ball. Party people gone hardcore, mang!

Started with "Shooting Stars" followed by "I'm in Miami, Bitch!" and their latest hit "Shots!" got everyone partied like 2012. Not to forget, CO2 air-gun, confetti and champagne were the party requirement.

The performance lasted for one hour. Well what can you expect from an act with only one album? But whatever it was, LMFAO rocked the house. I had fun and I got champagne all over me.

Asean Basketball League (ABL) and 2crank.com (a web based portal for independent and new musical talents) have teamed up to provide another platform for new and up and coming talents and artists. This collaboration was revealed at Artista, Tropicana City Mall yesterday at its media conference.

The CEO of AirAsia Asean Basketball League, Mr. Kuhan Foo concurred that this is also the mission of the Asean Basketball League to create opportunities for youth to showcase their talents on a regional platform to enable them to appeal to the 600 million population base in South East Asia.

The league which is in its 2nd year is sponsored by AirAsia and General Electric.

Starting on a modest scale 2crank will be providing new and upcoming talents to sing Negara Ku (Malaysia’s National Anthem) before every home match. Already 7 artists have preformed since the start of the season in Oct 2010.

The AirAsia Asean Basketball League will help to promote 2crank’s talent across the region via its official website and social media network (eg. Facebook, twitter etc.). It will also showcase some of the talent on their weekly highlight TV program that is shown across South East Asia via the ESPN network as well as local terrestrial TV stations in Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. The ABL will also seek among the young talent the best singer or group to create a theme song for the ABL for the next season’s campaign.

Apart from AirAsia Asean Basketball League’s CSR programs to promote young and upcoming talents with 2crank, another initiative from the AirAsia Asean Basketball League is to bring in students from universities across ASEAN as interns to give them working experiences in a regional company. The ABL is also working with their sponsors AirAsia and GE to place students in these organisations as well to enable these bright young talents to have an edge when they come out to the working world. These students will go through a 2 month training program with the AirAsia Asean Basketball League which will give them an eye opener and experience working in a professional basketball league in areas such as sports marketing, television production and sports management.

For the finals 2crank will be providing an opportunity to a new band to perform live as one of the entertainers leading up to the finals.

To say Gareth Emery has had a good year would be a vast understatement. Over the past twelve months, the popularity and buzz surrounding the young Brit reached explosive proportions, culminating in him being voted no.7 in 2010’s definitive DJ Mag Top 100 poll: one of only a handful of DJs to crack the world’s top ten before the age of 30. Was this down to producing pure club anthems like Exposure and Metropolis alongside stunning remixes for Armin van Buuren and Above & Beyond, all of which led to him spending more time at the top of Beatport’s trance chart that any other artist in ‘09? Maybe it was the launch of his new Garuda label and club night, responsible for selling out Manchester’s iconic Sankeys club four times in a row whilst releasing his critically acclaimed ‘The Sound Of Garuda’ compilation. Or perhaps it was the sheer amount of people he played to, banking half a million air miles travelling to over one hundred gigs at some of the world’s finest clubs and festivals. Whatever the reason, one thing is for certain: he’s on fire like never before.

Of course, what seems like ‘overnight’ success is usually the result of years of hard work, and Gareth Emery is no exception. He started learning the piano at 4, and whilst he’d completed his classical music training before he’d finished school, his real interest lay elsewhere, initially in guitar-based sounds. This was the UK in the mid-90s with Britpop and indie the order of the day, although as one might expect, Emery was no slouch, following the footsteps of Green Day and Oasis by headlining Southampton’s legendary Joiners venue at the age of just 15 with his band at the time. But it was a chance trip to Ibiza in 1998 that opened his eyes to the appeal of dance music, and after spending the next three years learning to make music with computers and midi, rather than guitars and pianos, he wrote his first electronic classic: the seminal ‘Mistral’, famously made whilst on holiday in France on a £500 laptop. Plenty more were to come.

These days, his records (which are composed, produced, and engineered entirely by him), span the worlds of trance, progressive, electro, techno, and a few other places. Languid, spacey grooves, juddering basslines and original melodies that take your breath away mean that it’s a given that Armin, Tiesto, Oakenfold, and Judge Jules have all been fully paid-up members of the Emery fan club for years. But more importantly, he’s firmly established as one of those rare producers who values quality over quantity, preferring to make five amazing records in a year then twenty average ones, and even happily refusing to release a track if it doesn’t feel “just right”, much to the occasional frustration of his fans. It’s this uncompromising attitude, that drive for something unattainably perfect, that has made him one of the most sought-after producers and remixers on the planet.

But if there’s one place where he’s even more at home than in his studio, it’s behind the decks, where he’s morphed into the consummate superstar DJ, unequivocally demolishing dancefloors the world over. From global superclubs like Zouk in Singapore and Guvernment in Toronto, to epic festivals like Global Gathering, Trance Energy and Dance Valley, to the mega-brands like Ministry of Sound and Godskitchen, the utterly unique, instantly recognisable Emery sound continues to pack out more clubs, in more places across the world, than ever before.

AFTER PARTY: ZoukOut 2010 @ Siloso Beach, Sentosa - Singapore (11/12/2010)

The Story Begins...

One World, One Music, One Tribe, One Dance. The tagline describes what ZoukOut is all about. ZoukOut once again got the world's attention in celebrating 10 years of great music, love and unforgettable memories with massive line-ups over four stages including two of the world's biggest DJs, Tiesto and David Guetta.

It was a hectic Saturday because I had to attend a wedding and catch a 5pm flight from LCCT, Sepang to Singapore. Thank god that it was not delayed like most flights to Singapore. Cheers to that, AirAsia!

ZoukOut 2010 was jam-packed with more than 30,000 people along the beach. About 10,000 people queued as early as 3pm to get their last minute tickets and sales started at 6pm. It was all snapped up by 8.30pm. Bad luck to the latecomers. Phew, glad to have my ticket in hands on the first day of sales in Zouk KL.

I got in the festival arena about 10pm, hanging out and checking out the stage schedule. It was good knowing that all my favorite acts are not clashing and I thought I could see them all but I couldn't.

Here's a brief review of the DJ sets that I managed to see at ZoukOut

Afrojack
Bangduck, Polka Dots, Taking Over Control. He dropped most of his own productions with a commercial touch. Not the kind of sound that I'd like to hear at a festival but to tell you the truth, that's what people love to hear. I had this conversation with Patrick and he said "I hate this kind of shit but if this is in KL (referring to the sound/genre), everybody will go crazy."

Don't hate the player, man. Hate the game :)

Lindstrom
While waiting for Booka Shade, I decided to stick at Stage B before I throw up listening to Dutch House. Those wee-wee-woo sound made me feel a bit nauseous. So I got to check out Lindstrom brilliant set. Great sound with a mix of guitar and synths, indie feel that turned out to be a beautiful melodic live show. Great stuff.

Booka Shade
"Good choice," according by most and I enjoyed every bit of it. Amazing 1 hour and half live show. The duo did a round of house, techy stuff from their album including the famous track Body Language, Mandarine Girl and their latest track Regenerate taken off their new album, More! Booka Shade is definitely in my favorite list.

Laidback Luke
Too many mash-ups and I've heard better.

Tiesto
Not bad for someone who has already change his music style. Tiesto did electro stuff, very c'mon-esque kind of vibe with a number of Trance including his classics such as Adagio For Strings and Traffic.

David Guetta
I don't think I should give a comment on this. David Guetta is David Guetta. Nuff said.

So what do I think about ZoukOut?

It was fantastic and definitely the most important event in the Electronic Dance Music scene to the globe. With more than 40 percent foreigners from the total party revellers, ZoukOut Singapore sets a new record despite the S$20 hike in ticket price.

Following success of Paramore campaign

KUALA LUMPUR, 14 November 2010 – American pop-punk band Paramore was on our shores only for one night but their maiden concert in Malaysia ‘Paramore Live in Kuala Lumpur’ at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil is still playing in the minds of fans.

They keep on asking for more and Tune Talk is saying: “Yes, we’re listening.”

Paramore’s Hayley Williams, Josh Farro, Jeremy Davis, Zac Farro and Taylor York rocked the 12,000-strong crowd at the stadium throughout their 90-minute performance on 19 Oct, cementing its position as Kuala Lumpur’s music event of the year. The band then went on to win the Best Alternative award at the recent MTV Europe Music Awards.

Presented by Tune Talk Mobile Prepaid as title sponsor, the concert was co-organised by Tune Tones (formerly known as Tune Entertainment), which together with Tune Talk are members of Tune Group of Companies. AirAsiaRedTix, a division of the world’s best low cost carrier AirAsia, was the official ticketing agent.

Paramore’s performance in Kuala Lumpur received rave reviews from the media, who hailed the band for their energetic performance and clean, drug-free record. “We agreed to bring in Paramore even though we knew the cost could be a hindrance but it proved to be the right thing to do. AFTER PARTY: Paramore Live in KL @ National Stadium, Bukit Jalil (19/10/2010)

The wait is over. After 6 years touring the globe, Paramore finally making a stop on our soil. Expensive tickets? Cry your heart out 'cause 8,000 fans were there and believed the concert was worth more than what they have paid.

Hayley and co put up a quality show to their fans who waited outside the venue as early as 4PM and performed 18 songs from their albums including their famous hits "That's What You Get", "The Only Deception" and "Decode" (ahem... for the Twilight freaks... ahem) with two encores over 2 hours at this long-awaited concert.

In the middle of the show, the band did a short acoustic session of four songs with light bulbs hanging on top and a couch as props. It was so calming when they performed "Misguided Ghost" and left the crowd singing the last few lines before they continue to rock the stage. Dim lights, the sound of acoustics and Hayley's voice that sounded the same like you hear in the CD were just amazing.

Fans wanted more after they left them hanging as soon as they finished performing "The Only Exception". So they did another two songs, "Brick by Boring Brick" and "Misery Business" to wrap the show. Y2K (the opening band) and a fan were invited to the stage for the final song. How lucky that dude was! He got the chance to hold the iconic carrot mic! Confetti, fireworks and one bloody rocking set drenched the crowd in sweats. Thank you, Paramore. Malaysians enjoyed every bit of your concert and we can finally sleep well at night.

AFTER PARTY: Avalon At Large - GO! @ Marina Bay Sands Expo (24/9/2010)

The Story Begins...

With S$68 for one night event, I got to see two of my favorite acts Chemical Brothers and Empire of the Sun. Sweet little trip to Singapore that left me with the best party experience ever... even though we missed the first night.

We reached there roughly around 9:30pm and not too long after we got there, Australian Electronic band Empire of the Sun ready to rock the ground. The band did a set of songs including their monster tunes Walking on a Dream and We Are the People which thrilled us all. Even though crowd interaction was less, they still did a spectacular performance. A+ for the dancers, props, costumes and Luke Steele's amazing stage showmanship (especially when he perform on a wheelchair for Without You).

We left for food and back for Chemical Brothers.

Though it was only their DJ set, they still put up a good show along with blinding lights, massive laser setup, and their signature chemical beats. Seriously, I got really high without any substance. From Techno to Progressive and a little bit of Breakbeat, the duo put us all in frenzy. It was an amazing 3-hour set and they left us with "Star Guitar" and "Hey Boy Hey Girl" for closing. Epic!

More than 10,000 strong crowd was there partied till the wee hours. Great crowd, great vibe and great event. There's always a new experience every time I visit Singapore. Cheers to the Avalon team!

The Story Begins...

I was in Singapore on that morning, flew back to KL that night and made it to the Rapture! Green Room did not fail to bring the best of the cutting-edge music and awesome party vibe from the past installment. You know it will be one helluva party when it comes to Green Room. Smell the heiny! *sniff

Too bad. I was there right after midnight and missed my favorite band Tenderfist and Arabyrd collabo. That shouldn't be the issue here because The Rapture was rocking the house in full blast performing "House of Jealous Lovers". Rapture's frontman Luke Jenner had this high-pitch voice that got everyone partying hard and I believe you have never seen tudung girls, indie kids and party poseurs (no pun intended) enjoying this together. The best moment of their performance was when the band bring down the vibe playing "Open Up Your Heart". Hands down, Luke Jenner's voice was amazing.

Literall was up on stage after Rapture and that was their debut performance ever comprising music and visuals. Literall is Lapsap with the help of Sebastian Jurowski on the visuals. The outcome was pretty banging and some of the visuals were tickling my funny bones though. The night was wrapped perfectly by D.I.M. from Germany. Though not many stick throughout the night, the real electro junkies had the best party of their lives.

The Story Begins...

I fell in love with Alex Morph's music when I first heard of his set at Maison two years ago. Last week, he was here again in our shores for an exclusive 3-hour set at Mist Club in Bangsar delivering another wicked night out for Malaysian clubbers!

Local (or regional?) female DJ Fiona Sabrina a.k.a Viona warm up the floor as early as 10pm playing progressive beats. Few people that I know came in at 11pm to avoid the hassle. Of course, you don't want to be disappointed if the club entry is close due to the maximum capacity, right?

The early crowd flooded the floor when Morph took over the decks, instantly press the play button and thus pulling everyone in frenzy. We all had a jolly good time dancing to his signature Trance tune including his rework of everyone's favourite "Going Wrong" by Armin van Buuren and wrap up the night with another Armin track called "Broken Tonight" which made us sang along. It was an epic opening and of course, a very memorable ending. We should kneel down to you, Morph! :)

With almost 100 remixes, you can never go wrong with Alex M.O.R.P.H. Big ups to Mist Club for throwing a kick-ass party!

Why?
Green Velvet, initially created by house don Cajmere (AKA Curtis Alan Jones) as an outlet for his non-vocal productions and frequent DJing gigs, grew to become even more popular than the man himself, thanks to club singles like “Preacher Man,” “Answering Machine” and “The Stalker.” Each were infectious, undeniably fun records with simple vocal taglines and a wonderful sense of humor. Jones, who had nurtured the Chicago house renaissance of the 1990’s with his Cajual Records, gained immense success in 1993 with the Cajmere single “Brighter Days” (with vocals performed by Dajaé).

Later that year, he formed the sub-label Relief Records mostly for instrumental tracks by himself and others. Besides releases from DJ Sneak, Gemini and Paul Johnson, Green Velvet figured on many of the early Relief singles, including its first, “Preacher Man” as well as “Flash” (also released on the British label Open), “The Stalker” and 1997’s hilarious “Answering Machine.” Jones began to do supplement his Green Velvet DJing schedule with quasi-live gigs as well, and released his first LP in 1999. His self-titled release on F-111 one year later compiled a dozen of his earlier club hits, and the proper sophomore production album “Whatever” appeared in 2001 on his own Relief label.

“La La Land” went on to become by far the biggest selling track of his career. His live act expanded as he began playing a keytar, with two other musicians-Nazuk and Spaceboy-backing him, playing heavily distorted synths.

The last decade also saw Green Velvet become a fan favorite across Europe, playing to huge crowds at festivals in addition to live radio appearances and club gigs. Numerous side projects and remixes under various names also added to his seemingly nonstop musical output.

In 2005, Green Velvet released his third album, Walk In Love, which stayed true to the House sound, with a few pop- and punk-oriented tracks for good measure, including “Come Back” and “Pin-Up Girl,” both of which featured a live guitarist.

The ongoing evolution in the music, career and life of the artist born Curtis Alan Jones in Chicago has been and will continue to be fascinating to watch and experience for his many followers.

AFTER PARTY: Seven Collar T-Shirt's The Battle Protocol @ KLPac (22/5/2010)

The Story Begins...

Followed by the release of Seven Collar T-shirt's (SCTS) third album album "The Great Battle", the band came up with an album tour which finally come to a conclusion last night at Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPac) after touring for two months. It was a show filled with intense noise, stunning visuals and great people congregate under one roof to witness the awesome finale!

The Battle Protocol showcased all 10 songs from SCTS new album, in the exact order as it is in the album including nine additional songs from "Drones" (SCTS previous album) with the support of Percussion Unit, Ambience Players (Justin Lim & Haizal of Otherside Orchestra) and our lovely songbird, Yuna with Strings Quartet.

The 2-hours concert was divided into 4 different scenes featuring music guests as stated earlier. My favorite is the second scene (Electro) and third scene (acoustic). That weird instrument / equipment gave me a big goosebumps. It complements the whole sound in creating a great noise. Mad props to Justin Lim and Haizal. That was one bloody good hell of a performance!

A pretty decent performance did by their special guest, Yuna with the strings quartet performing a few numbers of acoustic and orchestra sound including Faith, Summary and Foreigner. It was beautiful.

Overall, it was a night to be remembered by SCTS fans out there who has been longing for their solo concert since the last one held two years ago. Keep up the great work and I am expecting more local concerts especially from a great band like SCTS.

The Legendary Sound of Terror is Coming to Town. Neubeats Live Presents Zombie Nation – the German techno and electro project from Munich based DJ and producer Florian Senfter (a.k.a. Splank!). The first Zombie Nation five track EP was released in the spring of 1999 on DJ Hell’s label, International DeeJay Gigolo Records. A remix of the song “Kernkraft 400” on this debut release landed in high chart-positions all over the world, including number 2 in the UK singles sales chart. Since 2001, Florian Senfter has released tracks on different labels under Zombie Nation and his other pseudonym John Starlight. In 2002 he started his own label, Dekathlon Records, where he released the second album “Absorber” in 2003.

In early 2005, the new sublabel UKW Records was launched with John Starlight’s John’s Addiction Part 1 followed by Paeng Paeng 12” by Zombie Nation. German techno legend Sven Väth realized the potential of that song at first glance and licensed it to his Cocoon Recordings imprint. The third album Black Toys which was released in 2006 on UKW Records Zombie Nation is a bass dominated soundscape from tech-hop to funk-laden house. In 2007 Zombie Nation collaborated with electroclash prince Tiga under the pseudonym ZZT on the recording “Lower State of Consciousness”.

The Story Begins...

I woke up on Saturday morning and told myself, "Fuck it, I'm gonna hit Pitbull's concert tonight." I don't care if my car was damaged or no friends to join me. I hit the road and straight to Kiara to get my ticket. I only had RM20 in my wallet, the open car park area charged me RM10. So there you go, I swiped my card and thought to myself, "This better be a kick-ass event!"

Then I met few friends and joined them. Cheers to that! I'm not alone after all.

We managed to enter the hall after almost half an hour of standing in the line. Normal procedures, can't blame the securities on that. Good job for dividing the muslims and non-muslims with different tags.

Roger Shah was the first headline after local's favorite DJ, Lapsap warming the floor during the sunset. Nevertheless, Roger Shah gave the right selections in complementing the mood whereby everyone was still wandering around before Pitbull hit the stage. I enjoyed Shah's set as he pull some of my favorites such as Sunlounger's White Sand and Heart of the Sun, a short interlude of Armin & Shah's Going Wrong, and Andain's Beautiful Things to wrap up his set. I've seen him played at Zouk two years ago and I love both sets.

We didn't wait too long for Pitbull though. It was packed and the band was already on stage ready to rock the crowd. As soon as they announced the next performance (Pitbull), everyone started to scream and lift up their mobile phones and cameras to record this historic moment but no shadow of the main man himself.

As soon as we hear the beat comes in, Pitbull showed himself and started to rock the stage in full suit. Oh you should see the faces of screaming fan girls... and some men. People were actually dancing to every songs he dropped! From Blanco to Hotel Room Service, the venue turned out to be a big hip-hop club!

His anthems made everyone sang out loud. Don't blame the radio cuz it is catchy and easily stick on my brain. Ok, I admit. I sang along too. *guilty*

Enough of Pitbull talk. He's good. A true performer indeed. It was a power-packed set with his chart-topping hits. No doubt on that. I enjoyed the show. I think a lot of people left the venue after his show. Maybe because they wanted to see Pitbull only.

Benny Benassi hit the decks serving the crowd with delicious electronic dish. Nothing much to talk about because I've seen him twice before this event. I think his set was a bit dull at first but it started to pick up the pace at the second half of the set which was dirtier and harder right after he dropped RHCP's Otherside remix.

Lisa Lashes came up after Benny Benassi with her hardest beat. I was wow-ed by her set. It was too hard and my heart was about to popped out! The bass was too loud, in my opinion but it was still good. One hour is not enough to her, she extended the night to 2.30am. A+ for her set. :)

In a nutshell, 12 Hours is totally worth the money I paid. Parking was not a hassle if you are an early bird. Sucks to those who got car-towed. Some kids were crying outside the venue who thought their cars were stolen.

I went back home with a good feeling.

The night started off as early as 8.00PM with DJ Sugs (of Transient Vortex), whom recently was selected in the top 3 winning remix for M.C Asia’s Digital Music Competition. He pumped up the night by treating the early crowd with his cutting-edge sound of Electronica, Trance and Progressive and thus, putting them in a frenzy.

The dance floor was half packed as Malaysia’s finest Hard Dance act, Bass Agents got behind the decks pulling the crowd into their musical journey of harder beats and melody. Didjital and Ganjaguru, accompanied by MC Prinze firing up the music adrenalines and spirit, track after track with their psychedelic fusion of Tech-Trance and Hardstyle. It definitely shows their ability to shift the hard vibes to the crowd and lift them to thrilling heights.

The crowd was super- thrilled when Showtek came on stage. Loud roaring sounds from the revelers shook the room and without moments to spare, the Janssen brothers elevated the night with their assuring ‘award winning’ performance. Showtek whipped out all their dance floor bombs including “The Colour of the Harder Styles”, “FTS” and the award-winning track “Hold Us Back”. Highlight of the night was when Sjoerd get on the mic and the entire venue sang along to “Partylover” with him. Words are simply not enough to describe how excellent the night was.

With astound stage set up, stunning lightings, heart breaking laser shows, and excellent acts, ‘Twilight of Dance presents Showtek World Tour 2010’ did justice in putting forward the experience for the harder dance music sounds.

In my honest opinion, Showtek gig is one of a kind. I have never seen such enthusiastic fans screaming and singing throughout the set as if it was a concert. If you were there, you'd be surprised because these are the real hardcore fans! Nonetheless, Showtek knows how to live up the crowd without fail. Great showmanship, great track selection (which I believe 100 per cent from their own production) and great ambiance.

If you thought Hardstyle is dead, I'd say "NO, IT IS BACK!"

The Story Begins...

Malaysia's sweet little songbird whom signed under Brushfire Records (owned by Jack Johnson), Zee Avi has finally made her homecoming concert at KL Live recently and delivered a SUPER overwhelming performance to her fans. The highly anticipated concert was sold out within two days to 2,000 adoring fans. That is unbelievable for a mini-concert in Malaysia!

Me and my buddies reached there around 7.30pm and our jaw was dropped looking at the long queue until i-don't-know-how-many-kilometers but it was very smooth. We didn't have to wait too long to get into the hall. Good job to the securities on this.

As we entered the hall, we find the whole place was at the right atmosphere. I mean, we had Moving Units, Showtek and Placebo at KL Live and finally the venue toned down in bringing the right ambiance to complement Zee Avi's music.

The night was hosted by Aaron Mokhtar (Biggest Loser Asia 2nd runner-up) and he did a great job in hyping up the mood with his jokes and a short competition. 'Grats to the couple who won themselves a trip to Bali.

As soon as Zee Avi went on stage, her fans began to scream and at one point, you can hear "I love you, Zee Avi" and "Awak ni comel la!" from the sea of crowd. Zee played an hour set including her hits "Bitter Heart", "Kantoi" and kicked it off with "Poppy". Aside from playing her own stuffs, Zee also performed her own rendition of her favorites such as Interpol's "Slow Hands" and Yeah Yeah Yeahs' "Date with the Night".

Zee ended her set with her own version of Morrissey's "First of the Gang to Die" and left the crowd wanting for more. It was obvious that her show was supposed to end at the time and Aaron (the host) was trying to pacify the screaming fans. No doubt, one hour is not enough. After waiting a while, Zee came out, tuned her guitar and did one last song - "Monte" (If I'm not mistaken, that song was featured in Private Practice season 2). The last song left us with an unforgettable music experience. In other word, the night was perfect.

Malaysians are proud of you, Zee!

The Story Begins...

Words won't do any justice to describe how awesome the concert was. Placebo's gig in Kuala Lumpur was rocking the hell out of most of us Placebo fans! If you were not up for body surfing action, circle-mosh and lots of sweat, you are not hardcore enough to be at the concert. It was madness.

Placebo started off the show with a song from their brand new album Battle For the Sun called "For What It's Worth" and the whole floor went nuts. If you weren't that hardcore, I bet you were pushed to the back wildly. The gig kids showed no mercy to the people around them especially the dodgy-looking ones. Oh well, we fight for our best not to be pushed behind though.

It was satisfying seeing them playing "Follow the Cops Back Home", "Meds", "Every You Every Me" and "Special K" but it would be great too if they performed "Because I Want You", "36 Degrees", "Nancy Boy" and other classics as well. Nahh... It doesn't really matter to me as long as they put up a very good show. Nevertheless, the new album is very, very good too.

Placebo's performance is still fresh in my memory. Everyone was singing along, jumping around like nobody's business and most important is, we all had a jolly good time! Rocking or annoying, mad props to Zahid and his Fatboys team for giving us the time of our lives.

Before I start this post, shall we count the number of Cosmic Gate's appearance in Malaysia?
Merdeka party, Massive Worldwide, Freedom and Zouk... Oh! That is FOUR!

Their set in Zouk was more or less bringing the same experience that I had at Freedom, PD. I was high, natural high (without any substance), with the melody and euphoric beats. I enjoyed it very much but some of my friends said they were not good enough. How good is good? In my opinion, Cosmic Gate set was way better than the previous Trance event at Zouk - Markus Schulz. Oh well, one man's poison is another man's drink.

Anyway, the mainroom was packed to the brim by 11.30PM. DJ Fono was really, really good at warming the floor and I love his vocal tunes selection.

Party animals went wilder than ever as soon as Nic and Bossi stood behind the decks. I couldn't move at all and there was no space at the front of the console. Surprised to see the usual party crowds hanged at the back though. That includes me.

Overall, I find the music was good. Thanks to everyone who fed me with drinks that night.

One of my idols in the music scene, Tom DeLonge and his band Angels & Airwaves has just released a new album entitled "LOVE". The album can be downloaded for free through Modlife. You heard me right, FREE! The "special edition" version of the album will be available soon in stores. I will find it no matter what! Yee-haw!

The album release was delay due to the Blink 182 reunion tour... but is all good! I like the album very much. Not because of I'm a Tom DeLonge fan, that's for sure. Take a listen and you know what I mean. The band has injected the "space rock" element and it sounded like a fusion of U2 and Pink Floyd. So it's pretty much of a sound experiment which I find it a bit different than the first two albums.

I realised this story is kinda late to be posted here but nahhh... There's not really much to say about this DJ. The set was good but not the best (cuz I've seen better).

"Let the Bass Kick" was stuck on repeat but this dude knows how to hype up the crowd. Good job though... His live mixing-slash-scratching skills are undoubtedly awesome. Hands down but it was just too much of repetitive. Let the Bass Kick, and then I'm in Miami Bitch Remix.... Oh, then he played Turn Up the Bass. Cool... and back to Let the Bass Kick... With a bit of MC.

I guess that was what the crowd wanted. Everyone went wild every time he drop the tune.

I still enjoyed the set.

Alright, I admit! I was at the Boys Like Girls concert in January! I hate them but I have to admit, their songs are extremely addictive. I could almost memorise every songs from the first album but their new stuffs suck. Big time.

I was at the front line and manage to take this photo. Adli at BLG? Epic FAIL!

So I was at the concert. Singing to the brain-damaging song, Love Drunk:
"I used to be love drunk
But now I'm hungover
Love is forever
Forever is over"

I mean, seriously, what the fuck is wrong with the lyrics? and yet, I sang to it.

"Who cares about them? Let's take a photo together like what most bloggers do; CAMWHORE!"

I caught Didi nodded her head to their music and I screamed at her, "OMG, I SAW THAT!!" and found Reta who said, "I'm only here for the beer!"

Love'em or hate'em, Boys Like Girls is making big bucks from us. I kinda like some of their songs too. FYI, I did enjoy looking at screaming fan-girls.

Ermmm... For the million Dollar question, "Does Paul loves you?"

BLOG THING: Top 5 Favorite Placebo's Tracks

The Story Begins...

It's midnight and I just felt like listing down 5 of my favorite Placebo's tracks. Well there's more but I only want to focus on the first five of my favorites. FYI, Placebo is already touch-down in KL earlier today (according to a reliable source) and I am so looking forward for the concert this Tuesday at KL Live. Gotta get down with a checklist before the concert. Ticket, check! Camera, check!

The reason why I like Placebo is obviously the lyrics. There is something about it which makes it too special. Listening to the live version at Angkor Wat (2008) got me close to tears.

So here are my top 5 favorite Placebo's tracks!

1. Teenage Angst

From their debut album (and my current Blackberry ringtone), I think this song is very sublime. This song is definitely on top of my list. Most relates the song to depressed teenager, drugs, escapism, and fear of conforming to society. Whatever it is, this track is absolutely brilliant!
"Since I was born I started to decay. Now nothing ever - ever goes my way."

As we are born, we started to aging and ready for death.

2. Hong Kong Farewell

It's a secret hidden track, also from their debut album. No lyrics. Purely beautiful guitar riffs and piano. Whenever I listen to this song, I feel calm. The drumbeats complements the emotion of the song.

3. Pure Morning

This song is totally reminding me of my friends. The first line of the song grabbed my attention, "A friend in need is a friend indeed, a friend with weed is better". The song is about celebrating friendship... or about a friend who thought she was pregnant and "passed the test"? Great tune, weird lyrics and yet, another Placebo classic!

4. Follow the Cops Back Home

My favorite song off Meds. According to Brian (the vocalist), the song was inspired during his visit to Iceland and it was the 24-hour sun period. The crime rates are so low there that there are hardly any police. So what are the teenagers do in terms of crime? Follow the cops back home and rob their houses? Indeed, this is another meaningful song from Placebo.

5. Because I Want You

Ah, love this song a lot. It's like a medicine of a broken heart. The way he sings "Because I want you" repeatedly is interpreted as very sincere, IMO. Very beautiful track. Take a listen, you'll understand what I mean.

I really can't wait to see them live in KL. I will be there by myself so if you bump into me, don't forget to say hi!

The Story Begins...

One purely fun Trance night. That is what I can describe about M.C Asia last month. Great music, great DJs, great vibe and great people coming from all over the globe! Mat salleh and minah salleh (the terms for Caucasians in Malaysia) from France, Australia and wherever joined the Malaysian crowd for the ultimate event.

Event started as early as 4.30pm. Richard Durand shared his music experience pertaining to the production of Electronic Dance Music. Durand discussed on the "Elements of a Great Production". Followed by Sean Tyas, who did a demonstration of his music production and talked on "Production on Logic".

After all the serious talking, the fun began when they skies turned dark. Homeboys Popcorn Perky and Ian Ross served the crowd with good choons to move before the winner of MC Asia's DMC winner Effen took over the decks and dropped his signature beats from Trance to Progressive with a touch of House and Techno. Hats off to them especially Effen for making the party mood.

As soon as Richard Durand got hold of the decks, KL Live was totally packed to the brim... up to the back of the stage controller. Everyone was gasping for breath and rain sweat but nothing could stop them from enjoying Durand's music. The speaker was fucked at the first few minutes but it was all good once it was fixed. Durand dropped numbers of Trance anthems including Corsten's Made of Love, Buuren's In and Out of Love and Tiesto's Lethal Industry that got everyone high into the state of Trance. Thank you for playing my top favorite remix, Snow Patrol's Chasing Cars! xD

Sean Tyas took over as soon as the clock struck at 1am. Tyas brought the whole momentum to a higher level. The beat was highly pumped and the crowd couldn't stop stomping their feet and jump higher whenever the beat built up. His remix of Dash Berlin's Waiting was awesome! I was lost in his music. Great stuff! The sea of people would agree the same; this is the best Trance event to start the year! Richard Durand and Sean Tyas took us on a wild ride! Trust me, everyone partied like it's 2012!

Big ups to Global Sound Masters for throwing us a massive party!
